Gor Mahia lost 4-3 on post-match penalties to English side Hull City after a barren full time draw in a match attended by a mammoth crowd at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday 13th May.
Gor Mahia tactician Dylan Kerr was not happy with the match commissioner for restricting his squad to only twenty players despite him promising all players they will have a chance to showcase their talent.
“It’s a showcase and I thought my players showed the talent they have. I am disappointed for the players who were not able to play today.
“It’s pathetic, the match commissioner, I had permission from Hull City to play the whole team .For some weird reason he said it’s a FIFA match. It’s a disgrace. Some players are angry with me for not playing. I promised everybody a game because we have an important match on Wednesday,” Said Kerr.
On the players anger to the match commissioner he said, “They want to shoot him, I am not happy”
Despite the fuming, Kerr was impressed by his boy’s good show and the fans for turning out in large numbers.
“We created so many chance which I am happy with.We went to this game with a positive attitude We gave everything, we played football, they didn’t have a chance to be fair
“To FKF, KPL the ministry of sports this is what Kenyan football should be like. Let’s keep it up because we have the power.
“Obviously we lost on penalty. Maybe there was a juju on the ball. We got to play like that on Wednesday. This Algerian team are very strong.” Concluded Kerr who now turns his focus to the Wednesday CAF Confederations Cup match against USM Alger.
His opposite Nijel Adkins was full of praise for Gor Mahia and thousands of fans who turned up.
"What a great experience! 60000 fans in the stadium! What a sports atmosphere! A great great thank you. The weather was a bit hard on hard but what a great game of football. It was so friendly, great collaboration
“It was a great show from both set of players. They have done themselves proud. Dylan has a great side here
On the penalties Nijel said, “Today we have a little bit of fortune, another day the home side could win”
“There were several players we could not bring because of National duty. “The players have sampled a different continent, different culture. Football is the winner,” he concluded.
