The team is preparing for this year's CAVB Africa Nations Championship slated for 1 to 15 September in Egypt.
"Unwilling to remain idle as their competitors establish European training camps for the 2023 championship, the players and management have demonstrated their commitment to success. Despite the evident contrast in preparation levels (with their competitors) the team's resolve remains unshaken, fueled by the desire to surpass their 9th-place finish in the 2021 Rwanda edition," the team's media wrote on their Facebook page.
In the lead-up to the championship, the Moroccan National Team refines their skills in Antalya, Turkey, while Egypt prepares in Italy before a final camp in Morocco. Defending champions Tunisia have been in Qatar for the 2023 FIVB Challenger Cup, intensifying their title defense.
Enock Mogeni who captained the team in Rwanda, 2021 where they finished 9th holds a hopeful perspective for the future.
"He envisions equal opportunities for the men's team, akin to their female counterparts, Malkia Strikers and stands by the team's slogan, "THE DREAM IS ON," they continued.
Reached for comments, head coach Gideon Tarus confirmed that official training is yet to start but the players have taken it upon themselves, since they were all available for start of training last week, to use the available facilities to work on their fitness as they await indoor training programmes scheduled by the federation.
