Kenya U17 national team Rising Stars is set to compete in the AFCON U17 CECAFA Zone qualifiers that will take place in Uganda next month. The tournament is scheduled for December 14th to 28th, 2024.
The top two finalists in the competition will get the opportunity to represent CECAFA region in next year’s AFCON U17 edition.
The Rising Stars will be led by head coach Salim Babu, who has enjoyed success with the national youth teams. Under his guidance, the U18 team secured a second place finish in last years CECAFA tournament in Kisumu.
This year, he also led the U20 team to a second place finish in Tanzania, narrowly losing 2 – 1 to the hosts in the final. This earned them a spot in the 2025 U20 AFCON.
