Kenya thrash Burundi in Cecafa U17 opener

Kenya beat Burundi 4-0 in the first match of the Cecafa Under 17 competition

The national Under 17 soccer team began their CECAFA under 17 tournament on a high by thrashing hosts Burundi 4-0 in the opening group A match at Muyinga Stadium on Saturday 14th April, 2018.

Isaiah Abwal netted a brace while Christopher Raila and Nicholas Omondi scored one each to Kenya the win.

The goals started raining in the 13th minute when Raila gave Kenya the lead then four minutes later Kenya won a penalty that was converted by Nicholas Omondi.

Abwal’s grabbed his brace in the 54th and 79th minute.Both Christopher Raila and Abwal turn out for St Anthony’s Kitale while Nicholas Omondi is attached to Soweto Baptist.

Kenya's next assignment will be against Ethiopia on Tuesday, April 17,2018 at Gitega stadium before a final group match against Somalia at the Muyinga Stadium on Friday 20th, April.

Kenya Starting XI: Maxwell Mulili (GK), Lawrence Otieno, Telvin Maina, Christopher Raila, Arnold Onyango, Nicholas Omondi, Patrick Ngunyi, Hillary Okoth, Isaiah Abwal, Lesley Otieno, Mathew Mwendwa.

Substitutes: Brian Olango, Costah Anjeo, Nesta Wangema, Michael Abongo, Felix Chabaya, Daniel Ochieng, Said Musa.
