The Kenya National 15s team, the Kenya Simba’s, secured the 2024 Elgon-Victoria Cup title with a dominant 21-5 victory over Uganda Cranes in the second leg at Kings Park Stadium in Kampala on Saturday. This follows a 27-25 win in Nairobi last week, giving them an impressive 48-30 aggregate win over their East African rivals.
Kenya started strongly, taking the lead in the third minute after Ephraim Oduor broke through Uganda defense to score the opening try, with the resulting conversion making it 7-0. In the 18th minute, Eugene Sifuna extended the lead with a well-executed try after quick passes and clinical execution, making the score 14-0. A further blow to Uganda came in the 25th minute when rookie Andy Cole Omollo maneuvered through their defense to score Kenya's third try, with Omela’s conversion stretching the score to 21-0.
Uganda struggled to find rhythm as Kenya's disciplined defense manhandled their attack. The Cranes had a brief opportunity when Alfred Orege was binned in the 36th minute for a high tackle on Innocent Gwokto, but they failed to capitalize.
