Kenya's Tokyo Olympic boxing journey comes to an end

Ajowi, fighting in the men's heavyweight category, lost a unanimous points decision to Cuba's four time light heavyweight champion Julio Cesar La Cruz who claimed a 5-0 decision.

Elly Ajowi and Elizabeth Akinyi exited the boxing competition at the Tokyo Olympics, putting an end to Kenya's hopes of securing any medals in the boxing ring. 

Ajowi, fighting in the men's heavyweight category, lost a unanimous points decision to Cuba's four time light heavyweight champion Julio Cesar La Cruz who claimed a 5-0 decision.

Elizabeth Akinyi would then lose her welterweight bout against Mozambique's Alcinda Helena Panguana by way of a technical knock out. 

Earlier on, Nick Okoth and Christine Ongare had exited the competition, Okoth losing his round of 32 men's featherweight bout to Tsendbaatar Erdenebat of Mongolia while Ongare fell to Filipina Irish Magno in their round of 32 women's flyweight bout.
