Kenya primary school games kick off in Eldoret
Defending boy’s football champions Nzoia Region were held to a barren draw by Metropolitan Region in the opening match of the MILO Primary School Ball Games and gymnastics in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Maro Abdalla from Garissa Primary school and Issa Minhaj scored a goal each for Northern Region to pip Aberdare Region 2-1 in the second pool A fixture. Mohammed Haret of Laikipia Primary scored Aberdare’s consolation goal.
Ijema Ismael bagged four goals to inspire Coast region thrash Highland 4-1 in a pool B encounter as the 2014 champions Lake Region were beaten 3-1 by Mau.
In girls’ football, Hellen Nzilani netted the lone goal in the 48th minute for Highlands to pip Metropolitan region 1-0.
Defending champions Nzoia region got off to a flying start by winning their opening two handball matches. The champions beat Highland 29-7 before beating Aberdare 24-9.
Mau region boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams started off on a positive note. The Mau boy’s team beat Nzoia 3-0 (25-4, 25-7, 25-13) as their sisters eclipsed Nothern region 3-0 (25-3, 25-19, 25-9).
In netball, defending champions Lake Region beat Aberdare as Nzoia beat Mau 13-10.
