Led by Beldine Odemba, Police Bullets are determined to qualify for the Africa Women’s League
Kenyan women's soccer champions, Police Bullets FC, have secured a spot in the finals of the ongoing CECAFA Regional CAF Women Champions League qualifiers. In a thrilling semi-final match on Monday, Police Bullets overcame their rivals, Tanzania's Simba Queens, with a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
Led by Beldine Odemba, Police Bullets are determined to qualify for the Africa Women’s League. They will now face the winner between CBE WFC and Kawempe Muslim in the final, scheduled to take place at the Abebe Bikila Stadium on August 29, 2024.
The match was a display of Kenyan talent, with Harambee Starlets midfielder Corazon Aquino equalizing after Police Bullets initially took the lead in the 30th minute through Lucy Kwekwe. Simba Queens regained the lead, but Diana Wacera’s powerful header in the 60th minute brought the score level once again.
With the game tied at 2-2 in the final ten minutes of regulation time, Rebecca Okwaro delivered the decisive blow, scoring a stunning goal to secure a 3-2 victory for Police Bullets.
The Kenyan champions showcased outstanding defense and remain confident that their resilient mindset will carry them through the challenging final match ahead.
Police Bullets’ win comes less than 24 hours after their male counterparts Police FC silenced home side Ethiopia Coffee to book a slot in the second round of the CAF Confederations Cup. The match was played at the same stadium on Sunday evening.
