Kenya Pipeline Set to Defend CAVB Championship Title

The CAVB Africa Zone V Championship is a regional tournament involving clubs from twelve nations, including Kenya, Burundi, Egypt, South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, Rwanda, TZ

The Kenya Pipeline Volleyball team, the reigning champions, has been officially flagged off at the KPC headquarters as they prepare to defend their title at the third edition of the CAVB Africa Zone V Club Championships. The tournament, which is set to take place from February 26th to March 4th, 2025, in Kampala, Uganda, will feature a fierce competition among over 20 teams from across Africa.

The Kenya Pipeline team, the only Kenyan representative at this year’s competition, comprises two setters, two opposites, four middle blockers, four left attackers, and two liberos. The team will be competing at two key venues – the Lugogo Indoor Stadium and the Old Kampala Sports Arena. The defending champions are determined to bring home the prestigious title for the second consecutive year.

Among the formidable opponents that the Kenya Pipeline team will face are clubs like Armée Patriotique Rwandaise, Rwanda National Police, Tanzania Prisons Services, Sport-S, KCCA, Vision Volleyball Camp, Ndejje University Elites and KCB-Nkumba. These teams, representing twelve African nations, will all battle it out for supremacy at this highly anticipated event.

At the flag off ceremony, KPC Managing Director, Mr. Joe Sang, expressed his confidence in the team’s preparation and prospects. He emphasized, “The KPC volleyball team is the only Kenyan team taking part in this year’s CAVB Africa Zone V Championship. This is a testament to the resilience, skill, and dedication the team has consistently demonstrated. We are confident they will represent the Company and the nation with distinction in Kampala and bring the title home for the second time.”

Sang also highlighted the importance of teamwork and mental fortitude, encouraging the players to stay united and focused on the task ahead.

Head Coach Geoffrey Omondi also shared his optimism, stating, “Our preparations over the last couple of weeks have been intensive and focused. The players are in high spirits and eager to showcase their talent on this significant platform. Our aim is to bring the trophy back home.”
