Kenya missed out on the African qualification tournament held in Banjul, Gambia (men) and Abuja, Nigera (women) following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which brought sports activities around the world to a halt.
A successful appeal by the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has handed the Kenyan beach volleyball team a second stab at qualification for the Tokyo Olympics.
Kenya missed out on the African qualification tournament held in Banjul, Gambia (men) and Abuja, Nigera (women) following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which brought sports activities around the world to a halt.
KVF President Waithaka Kioni, in a statement issued Monday, said, ""Following our appeal for the repeat of second-round beach volleyball Olympics qualifiers due to the COVID-19 related travel restrictions imposed on some teams, which included Kenyan teams, I am pleased to report that the FIVB has approved a repeat of the women qualifiers."
"This qualification event will take place in Nigeria either in late March or early April 2021 and we remain hopeful that a repeat of the men's event will also be granted," he added
