Kenya Elections: Orero floors Mariga in Kibra's battle of the sportsmen
Orero, renowned for achieving sporting success during teaching spells at Kamukunji, Lang’ata High School, Upper Hill School and Dagoretti, ran on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, defeating former Kamukunji alumnus and former Harambee Stars stalwart MacDonald Mariga of the United Democratic Alliance
Outgoing Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association Chairman Peter Orero is the new Member of Parliament for Kibra Constituency.
Orero, who is also the current Kenya Basketball Federation treasurer is renowned for achieving sporting success during teaching spells at Kamukunji, Lang’ata High School, Upper Hill School and Dagoretti.
He ran on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, defeating former Kamukunji alumnus and former Harambee Stars stalwart MacDonald Mariga of the United Democratic Alliance.
Mariga remains the only Kenyan to win the UEFA Champions League as part of Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan squad of 2010.
Orero managed 33,008 against Mariga’s 20,049 votes and will represent the constituency in the Kenya National Assembly for the next five years.
Incumbent Imran Okoth was third on 18,901 votes.
