The Kenya national women’s amputee football team made history defeating England 1 – 0 to secure top spot in group B at the inaugural Amputee Women’s World Cup in Colombia. This victory capped an unbeaten group stage phase for Kenya who now head into the quarter finals.

In a tightly contested encounter, the Clement Otieno led team triumphed 1 – 0 over England, with Mercyline Ajenjo scoring the all-important goal. The win ensured that Kenya finished top of their group with seven points.
The competition which began on November 4th and will run till 10th at the Romelio Martínez Stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia, is the first of its kind. Kenya is the only African team competing after Nigeria and Cameroon withdrew days before the commencement.
