KCB's Unbeaten Run Halted as Shabana FC Remains Winless

KCB remain at top of the standings with 17 points while Mathare move to fourth with 11 points. City Stars climb to twelfth with 8 points and Shabana remains at the bottom with 3 points

Kenya Commercial Bank FC unbeaten run into the FKF Premier League 2024/25 season was brought to a halt after they lost 1 – 0 to Mathare United on Sunday at Dandora Stadium.

Despite missing four key players suspended by the club for participating in unsanctioned match, Mathare secured their third win of the season thanks to a 54th minute goal from Meshack Otieno. Otieno found the back of the net after left-back Starlon Odhiambo delivered a precise low cross into the box, leaving him with only the out-of-position goalkeeper to beat.

The second half was for KCB to lose as they had several chances to level the score but Mathare custodian Michael Wanyika stood firm, making crucial saves to preserve his team’s lead and seal his second clean sheet of the season.

In Kisii, Nairobi City Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber dashed Shabana FC’s hope of securing their first win of the season, scoring an early goal in the 5th minute to give the Simba Wa Nairobi their second win of the season. This win follows their impressive 2 – 1 triumph over reigning champions Gor Mahia 2 – 1, capping off an impressive week for them.

KCB remain at top of the standings with 17 points while Mathare move to fourth with 11 points. City Stars climb to twelfth with 8 points and Shabana remains at the bottom with 3 points, notably being the only side not to register a win this season.
