The 2016 world half marathon silver medalist Bedan Karoki on Friday led a strong field of Kenyans  to win 2017 RAK Half Marathon  in the United Arab Emirates.

Karoki carried the day in 59:10 for a new personal best time breasting the tape ahead of Ethopia's Yigrem Demelash who spoilt another possible clean sweep for Kenyans in a race Kenya won 7  places in the top 10.

Karoki who is set to make his marathon debut in April in London contributed to the fast pace in the second half of the race after the pacemakers wound their task.

Ethiopi’as  Yigrem Demelash timed 59:19 while Kenya’s Augustine Choge finished third in 59:26 in his third ever half marathon outing while another Kenyan Solomon Yego settled fourth in 59:50.

Kenya's Peris Jepchirchir won the women's race in a new world record time of  1:05.06
