Star boy Aldrine Kibet was on the scoresheet again as gallant Junior Stars beat Somalia 4-1 at a packed Bukhungu Stadium
The national U18 team Junior Stars have wrapped their CECAFA tournament group stage matches in style after thrashing Somalia 4-1 at Bukhungu Stadium.
The win means that Stars advances to the semifinals as group A winners and will therefore play group B runner up in a match that will see the winner book a place in the final.
All the four teams in pool B had three points heading to the final group stage matches.
Kenya kicked off the tournament with a 5-0 win over Sudan before downing Rwanda by a solitary goal in the subsequent group stage match.
The wind over Sudan and Rwanda were enough to see Salim Babu's charges book a slot in the semis but needed to beat Somalia so as to emerge top in the pool.
Babu made a couple of changes in the starting team, introducing a number of players who came off the bench in the past two matches in the first team.
Somalia took the lead in the 19th minute through Abdihafid Abdi but it didn't last long as Humphrey Aroko replied for the Kenya in the 25th minute.
Stanley Wilson scored the second goal for Kenya in the 28th minute with Aroko sealing his double in the 66th minute.
The red-hot Aldrine Kibet struck the fourth goal for Kenya and his third in the tournament in the 74th minute.
Babu will certainlybe pleased with how the fringe players fared out in the game and how the team has expressed itself so far in the tournament having scored ten and conceded once.
