In another FKF Premier League encounter, Mara Sugar and Bidco United played to a goalless draw, with neither side able to break the deadlock throughout the match.
AFC Leopards extended their winless run in the FKF Premier League to three matches after coming from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with Shabana at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, on Sunday, 16 March.
Shabana struck first in the 19th minute when Kevin Omundi capitalized on a deflected freekick from Daris Msagha to score, his effort looping over Leopards goalkeeper Levis Opiyo. The goal came as a shock after a brief halt in the game, caused by chaos in the stands which led to police deploying teargas to control the situation.
Despite the early setback, AFC Leopards responded just before the halftime whistle. In the 44th minute, a well-timed assist from Clifton Miheso set up Ovella Ochieng, who calmly slotted home with his left foot to level the scores at 1-1.
The second half saw both teams push for a winner but neither could break the deadlock. Shabana's Omundi had a chance to extend their lead, but he misjudged a cross from Msagha. On the other end, Leopards’ Ovella had his freekick saved by Shabana's goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili. In the dying moments of the game, Leopards’ Opiyo emerged as the hero, making a crucial save to deny Austine Odongo’s header, and the rebound was put wide by Oscar Juma.
Despite the frantic nature of the match, neither side could secure a victory, leaving AFC Leopards to rue missed opportunities as their winless streak in the league continues.
