Home draw with Egypt sees Harambee Stars AFCON hopes extinguished

Hassan Abdallah leveled the scoring for the Stars with a 65th minute effort following a goal mouth melee.

Kenya is out of contention for a slot at the African Cup of Nations after playing to a 1-1 draw against Egypt at Kasarani on Thursday night.

The visiting Pharaohs took the lead courtesy of a 2nd  minute goal from Mohamed Magdi Ashafa, a lead they took into the interval.  Harambee Stars striker Masud Juma had 40th minute goal ruled out.

South African referee Victor Gomez sent Stars’ defender Johnstone Omurwa to the showers with fifteen minutes to play, Ghost Mulee’s charges forced to play with 10 men for the remainder of the encounter.
