The two teams had to battle for the bronze medal after losing their semifinals encounters and consequently, lost the chance to fight for the sole Olympic ticket on offer.
Kenya surprisingly lost 1-0 to losing finalists Nigeria while Ghana were handed heavy hockey lessons by champions South Africa who won 7-0.
In the playoff, Kenya converted from the sole penalty corner awarded through Caroline Guchu and added two field goals through Eleanor Chebet and Naomi Kemunto.
Ghana got their consolation through Bervis Mavis who struck home from a short corner. Mavis was on target twice against the Kenyan girls in the group stage game that Ghana lost 3-2.

Pool B matches will be played in Oman and will feature: Great Britain, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, Pakistan, Canada, Chile and China.
A similar tournament will be held in India where women's teams' from Germany, New Zealand, Chile, United States, Italy and Czech Republic will contest for slots in Pool B.
Pool A matches will be held in Valencia and will have: Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, Korea, Ireland, Canada, Malaysia and Ukraine.
