Harambee Stars to battle Mo Salah and co in road to 2021 AFCON
Harambee Stars to face Egypt , Togo and Comoros Islands in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
Harambee Stars will face Egypt’s Pharaohs, Comoros and Togo in the qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cameroon. The draw was conducted on Friday night in Cairo, on the sidelines of the CAF General Assembly.
The first round of qualification matches will start in November, but the fixtures are not yet released. Reacting on the draw, FKF boss Nick Mwendwa says Stars have a possibility of playing at a second consecutive AFCON.
“I believe this is a good draw for us, maybe even better than the other one. The work starts now and as I said, we want to get back to the AFCON. We will try to qualify and I am confident that with the work that we have started this year, we will be in Cameroon,” Mwendwa said.
The group phase of the qualifiers will be preceded by a preliminary round involving eight teams. The winner from each of the four games will advance to the group stages. There are 12 groups of four teams each and the top two advance to the final tournament.
