The National soccer team Harambee Stars has been thrown back to the drawing board following the resignation of head coach Paul Put.

Football Kenya Federation announced Put’s resignation on Monday saying the coach couldn’t stay put due to personal reasons.

In a statement released on Monday afternoon, FKF announced that, “Football Kenya Federation wishes to inform the general public that Mr. Paul Put has officially resigned as the Kenya National Football Team, Harambee Stars Head Coach.

“The tactician’s resignation, though down to personal reasons is a setback to the country’s ongoing 2019 AFCON qualifiers as he was an integral member of the Technical Bench." The statement read.

Earlier in February, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa expressed confidence that Harambee Stars Coach Paul Put is in Kenya to stay following reports linking the 61-year old Belgian with Guinea’s national team.

At that time, Grapevine had been rife that Paul Put expressed interest in the Guinea’s job and was among the front-runners.

While in charge of Harambee Stars, Put has already proved his mettle by winning the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
