Kenya’s Harambee Starlets are set to kick off their campaign for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a challenging first-round match against Tunisia.
The highly anticipated draw was conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Cairo, Egypt, has outlined the path for Africa’s elite women’s teams vying for one of the 12 coveted spots in the prestigious continental tournament.
The qualification process is split into two rounds. The first leg will take place from February 17 to 26, 2025. Teams that advance from this stage will move on to the crucial second round, set for October 20 to 28, 2025.

The Starlets haven’t featured in the WAFCON tournament since 2016 and will go into this tie with a strong push for qualification. In 2022, the Kenyan ladies were closer to qualifying to the competition but FKF and caretaker committee wrangles and a FIFA ban imposed on the nation, meant that they couldn’t participate in international matches hence eliminating them.
