Harambee Starlets midfielder Corazon Aquino has secured a one year deal with Portuguese top tier side Atletico Ouriense and she is scheduled to fly out of the country this Friday to begin her European adventure. Aquino who has previously had a short stint in Sweden attracted the eye of the Ouriense scouts during last year’s CECAFA Women’s Championship in Tanzania.
“I am really pleased to be making this move. I thank God because we have suffered for so long as women footballers in Kenya with little opportunities. I am hoping we can open doors for more players to move out,” Aquino stated.
She added; “I know it will not be an easy task but I am prepared to work hard. I need to prove that I am worth the buy and this will come through hard work and discipline.”
Meanwhile striker Mwanahalima Adams will be headed for month long trials with Djugardens IF in Sweden. The striker is only waiting on processing of her visa before embarking on the trip to Stockholm.
“I am really happy with this chance because it is something I have been waiting on for so long. I will give it my best to ensure I get a contract. I trust that everything will go well,” she stated.
