GSU, Pipeline crowned 2017 Volleyball champions

Kenya Pipeline and General Service Unit (GSU) were last weekend crowned national volleyball league champions after emerging at the top of the table with maximum wins during the national playoffs staged at the Makande Hall in Mombasa.

GSU dethroned Kenya Prisons who beat them at the same venue last year while Kenya Pipeline condemned former champions Kenya Prison to the second spot for the 4th straight year.

It was an easy final day for the champions Pipeline who beat playoffs debutants Western Bombers from Bungoma 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-10) to finish at the summit of the log. Pipeline had edged Prison 3-0  (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) on Saturday to add on to their straight win over KCB on Friday.

GSU had to sweat to beat Cooperative bank 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) on the final day for the crown as Kenya Prisons  secured a second place finish albeit after struggling past KPA  in a five sets thriller.
