This win sets up a meeting with Bandari in the last 16 for Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia FC thumped Githurai All Stars 5-0 to secure a spot in the round of 16 of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup on Sunday. The match, held at Dandora Stadium, saw the defending FKF Premier League champions take control early and never look back.
Gor Mahia wasted no time asserting their dominance. Austin Odhiambo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a superb free kick, and just 17 minutes later, he doubled the lead with another well-executed shot. The game took a further blow for Githurai All Stars when Gedeon Bendeka extended Gor’s advantage to 3-0 just before halftime.
In the second half, Gor Mahia continued to pressure their opponents. Mark Shaban, who came on as a substitute, scored in the 58th minute, making it 4-0. Alpha Onyango sealed the deal with a long-range strike in the 87th minute, completing a resounding 5-0 victory.
This win sets up a meeting with Bandari in the last 16 for Gor Mahia, who proved their superiority over the Division Two side.
Meanwhile, Ulinzi Stars also enjoyed a big win, thrashing Jumbo T 6-0, while Murang’a Seal faced a tougher challenge but triumphed 4-3 on penalties against Fortune Sacco after a 2-2 draw. Kakamega Homeboyz, 2023 FKF Cup champions, secured their place in the next round with a 1-0 win over Samitsi FC, thanks to an early goal from Hillary Otieno.
