Strathmore University Gladiators enhanced their chances of finishing in the top five in the first leg of the Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League after flooring Green Sharks 1-0 at City Park on Sunday.

The game was the only top-flight duel played in the day. The first leg of the 2023 season is expected to end next weekend.

Gideon Mshindi won the game for the students after sounding the board five minutes to the final whistle.

There was plenty to watch for in the Super League as a number of second tier matches were played on Sunday.

Multimedia University edged JKUAT 2-1 at City Park in a closely-contest duel that produced the match-winning goal in the second quarter.

Multimedia went ahead in the 19th minute through Deogracious Onyango with JKUAT levelling matters in the 25th minute through Bravine Okoth.

Nickson Omondi hit the board in the 30th minute through from the field to win the match for his side.

Park road Badgers annihilated Wazalendo Masters 4-1 at City Park.

Badgers got their goals through; Meshack Mandela, Ivan Isadia and Lennox Onyango who scored twice. Wazalendo’s lone goal was scored by Chris Kwame.

 

While the JKUAT men’s team fell, the women’s one had something to celebrate after beating Black Tigresses in a Super League match staged at City Park.

Lucy Adhiambo settled the contest after finding the back of the board in the seventh minute.

Sliders taught Daystar University ladies’ biter hockey lessons after thrashing the students 9-1 at City Park.

The experienced Charity Miller was the chief tormentor of the students as the former Kenyan international scored four times with Daisy Monica hitting a brace.

Doreen Otieno, Anita Agunda and Doris Kirui came to the party, scoring a goal apiece.

Ebby Kadenyi got the consolation goal for Daystar.
