Plans are underway to play international friendly matches against the runner's up of the Tanzania Women Premier League and FUFA Women Super League(Uganda), Simba Queens FC and Kawempe Muslims Ladies
Kenya Women Premier League (WPL) runners-Up Gaspo Women have announced plans to play two international friendlies following the conclusion of the 2022/23 local league.
The James Ombeng-led side announced on their socials that plans are underway for the team to play Kawempe Muslim and Simba Queens.
Just like Gaspo, the two teams finished second in the Uganda and Tanzania Women Premier Leagues respectively.
Ombeng's charges had a chance to lift the title until the last three league matches where they picked draws against Ulinzi Starlets and Wadadia FC to relegate the title to Vihiga Queens before the two sides clashed in Nairobi in a season-ending dead rubber last weekend.
"Plans are underway to play international friendly matches against the runner's up of the Tanzania Women Premier League and FUFA Women Super League(Uganda), Simba Queens FC and Kawempe Muslims Ladies FC respectively.
The date for the two trips to Dar es Salaam and Kampala will be communicated.
Fans and supporters will travel alongside the team for the two international matches," the statement reads.
Additionally, the team's performance did not go unnoticed despite missing out on prize money at the conclusion of the season as holders Vihiga got a Ksh 1 million reward from the federation.
Former Harambee Stars player, USA-based Sammy 'kempes' Owino has pledged to reward Gaspo with half a million shillings as prize money for their efforts.
