Full house for Migne in Bahir Dar ahead of Ethiopia clash
Full house as Harambee Stars prepare to take on Ethiopia
All 13 foreign based players jetted into Ethiopia on Monday ahead of Wednesday’s crucial 2019 AFCON qualifier against the hosts, Walya Antelopes. Skipper Victor Wanyama who missed the 1-0 win over Ghana last month led other players in joining camp.
Also present was Kazakhstan based speedy winger Paul Were who also missed the Ghana game due to injury.
“I am so happy to have Victor back because he is my captain and the best player in the team. We won without him against Ghana and he adds strength coming back and I hope now we can also win with him,” Migne said of the captain’s return.
Also coming back after missing the Ghana game is winger Paul Were who was also nursing an injury as well as defender Brian Mandela who slots in straight to replace Joash Onyango who was sent off against Ghana.
Midfielder Johannah Omollo who missed the Ghana game after aggravating a thigh strain on the final day of training is also back having fully recovered, but there is no space for deputy captain David Odhiambo who is yet to regain fitness.
The final group of local based players also joined in later in the day having travelled in the morning after Sunday’s conclusion of the 2018 Kenyan Premier League season.
The squad held a light session outside the Bahir Dar stadium but will be expected to have a feel of the match venue on Tuesday, the eve of the titanic clash.
All teams in Group F have three points after one win each and Migne says it will be vital to avoid defeat in both games against Ethiopia to keep their hopes afloat.
The match will be played at 4pm EAT on 10th Wednesday.SuperSport and BeIN will air the match live.
