Hussein Mohammed and former Harambee Stars captain Macdonald Mariga of Team Fresh Start triumphed in the FKF Presidential Elections held on December, 7th , 2024 at the Moi Kasarani Indoor Arena.

A total of 90 delegates participated in the elections to select the president/his deputy and 10 National Executive Committee members. The process started with all NEC positions being declared vacant, except for the president to ensure there is no leadership vacuum.

In the presidential race, Hussein got 43 votes, followed by former FKF deputy president Dorris Petra with 31. Other candidates included former FKF CEO Barry Otieno (10 votes), Cleophas Shimanyula (4 votes), Sammy Owino ‘Kempes’ (2 votes) and Tom Alila (1 vote).

With no candidate surpassing the 50% threshold, a run off was initially scheduled for the top three candidates. However, second place finisher Dorris Petra conceded defeat to Hussein and Mariga. This led to the reluctant concession of Barry Otieno, who initially hesitated to accept the outcome pushing for the runoff.
