Form one student drowns in Friends School Kamusinga Swimming Pool

A form one student at Friends School Kamusinga drowned  while training for the forthcoming school's swimming championships.

The student ,Dennis Mutiso, from Nairobi County had joined the school three weeks ago and had been practicing alongside his schoolmates when the incident happened at the school's swimming pool.

According to a statement by the school's Principal Mr. Edwin Namachanja, Mutiso was one of the finest swimmers who met his death  after choking when he tried to adjust his swimming costume on the deep end of the pool.

"He was one of the finest swimmers and this is a very unfortunate incident. He tried to adjust his swimming costume that was coming off  but sadly he choked and despite quick reaction from our swimming instructor and other students at the pool the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital." Namachanja told reporters on Tuesday.

Apart from their  academic excellence,  Kamusinga is renown as  one of  Kenya's finest sports hubs with good history in hockey, rugby and basketball
