Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has released a statement regarding reports of harassment and physical assault of match officials during two matches on Sunday, January 12th. The incidents took place during the National Super League fixture at Moi Stadium, Embu, between 3K FC and Kibera Blackstars FC, as well as the Division One match at Ilala Stadium, Webuye, where Compel FC played against GFE 105 FC.
The FKF confirmed it has received detailed reports from the referees’ department about the incidents and is taking the matter seriously. The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) is actively following up with the involved clubs to gather their responses.
To address the issue, the LCC, in collaboration with the FKF Leagues and Competitions Manager, is set to hold a meeting on Thursday to review the reports and decide on the appropriate course of action with a comprehensive statement outlining the findings and decisions being issued after the meeting.
LCC Chairman Peter "Kass Kass" Kamau reiterated the Federation's firm stance against any form of violence or intimidation toward match officials. "As a Federation, we reiterate our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of match officials and promoting the highest standards of sportsmanship and integrity in the game. Violence or intimidation against match officials is unacceptable and will be addressed decisively," Kamau said.
