It’s almost impossible to talk about Messi with mentioning Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal. These two guys have lit up world football for years.

We are just three or so weeks out to the FIFA World Cup and have chosen five players to look out for at the tournament in Qatar.

Let’s start with the seven-time world player of the year. It is none other than Lionel Messi, of Argentina. One gets the feeling that the exciting playmaker has been preserving his 35-year-old legs for one last push at a World Cup winner’s medal that, to many, would solidify him as footballs greatest player. He is in superb form for his club side Paris St. Germain at the moment.

It’s almost impossible to talk about Messi with mentioning Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal. These two guys have lit up world football for years. CR7, as we will call Cristiano, is a European Championship winner but has never a World Cup, let alone play in a final.

The 37 year old is having a turbulent season at Manchester United, the club that propelled him to global recognition and stardom and will want to prove his critics wrong by play every well in Qatar.

Four years ago in Russia, a 19 year old by the name of Kylian Mbappe steered France to their second title. He seem to be getting better with time and should he show up in Qatar, the Paris St. Germain striker will be out to emulate the great Pele of Brazil by winning his first two World Cups.

Widely regarded as the world’s best midfielder, Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City has driving runs which are among the best sights in football at the moment. Belgium just has to hope he arrives healthy.

Despite often overshadowed by Mbappé and Messi at Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar is still the main man for Brazil. Watch out for tricks and flicks, and some histrionics, too.
