Entries for the Kenya Open golf tourney closed
Entries have closed for the Barclays Kenya Open and the full complement of 156 players has been filled. The event will be running from 14th – 17th February at the Karen Country Club.
There will be two Pro-ams. One will be held at Karen Country Club and is sponsored by Barclays Bank of Kenya. The other will be held at the Muthaiga Golf Club and will be sponsored by Coca Cola, through their brand Dasani.
Six winners from last year’s Challenge Tour Tournaments including Daniel Vancsik, the winner of the Tusker Kenya Open 2005, have confirmed their participation.
A total of 26 countries will be represented, and Kenya will be represented by at least 22 professionals who are members of the PGK. The compliment of Kenyans is completed by six amateurs namely; Tony Omuli, Justus Madoya, Nelson Simwa, Mathew Omondi, Francis Kimani and Jay Sadhu
For the first time, organizers have opened an additional five slots to all professionals from any country who had not qualified or been nominated to participate by 31st January when the entries for the tournament closed.
Pre-qualifying is through a 36 hole tournament to be held at the Karen Country Club on the mornings of 7th and 8th February 2013
Though the current forecast is for little or no rain, the greens and tees have been well maintained, courtesy of the newly constructed environmentally protected water hazard and extensive watering system ensuring excellent fairways and the course in excellent condition for the Barclays Kenya Open.
