End of the road for Rising Starlets

Kenya's U20 National team Rising Starlet are out of 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers

A 3-2 loss at home to Cameroon means that the national women's U20 team, Rising Starlets, are out of World Cup contention.

The two sides locked horns at Nyayo National Stadium on Friday 17 November, with the home side needing at least a 3-0 victory to keep them in contention.

Beldine Odemba's charges, however, fell to Naomi Eto's hat trick to lose the match and the third round tie on a 6-2 aggregate.

The opening half ended with Rising Starlets trailing with Cameroon’s captain Eto managing to breach Kenya's defense and secure a goal.

In the second half, Charity Midewa came in for Judith Nandwa. She swiftly made an impact, netting a goal for Kenya with her first touch in the 46th minute.

Eto netted two goals in quick succession in the 60th and 62nd minutes. Midewa secured a brace in the 77th minute, scoring the second goal for Kenya.

Rising Starlets now bow out of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
