Eliud Kipchoge makes marathon history in Vienna
Eliud Kipchoge on Saturday became the first man to run a marathon under two hours by clocking 1:59:40 in Vienna during the Ineos Challenge
Eliud Kipchoge has this morning made history by being the first man to run a marathon under two hours , clocking 1:59: 40 during the INEOS Challenge marathon in Vienna Austria.
Speaking after the race in Vienna , Kipchoge said. "I am feeling good it has taken 65 years for a human being to make such history in sports. I have tried what no other man has done and I am the happiest man to have run under two hours to inspire people that all is possible."
"I cant define this feeling , when I woke up at 4:50 this morning, four hours to the race it was one of my hardest times but I am glad it came to happen. This needs perseverance and dedication."
"The 41 pace makers are among the best in the world and I thank them for giving me the push to do this. We made this together with everyone who has made it possible."
He added that " It means a lot to Kenya . Everybody can walk out of his door and walk positively to make a good world. We can all make this world a beautiful place to live in."
I am happy to have my wife here to witness history. The positivity of sports is interesting. It is possible for every sports person to win clean and we can kill all diseases in the world by just running."
