The Egyptian star’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season, sparking speculation about a possible move away
African football icon Mohamed Salah has officially signed a new two year contract with Liverpool, putting to rest months of uncertainty about his future with the English giants.
The Egyptian star’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season, sparking speculation about a possible move away—especially amid strong links to clubs in Saudi Arabia. But now, Salah has reaffirmed his commitment to the Reds, where he has become a legend over the past eight years.
“Of course I’m very excited—we have a great team now,” Salah said after signing. “We had a great team before too, but I believe we can win more trophies and enjoy our football.”
The 32-year-old forward, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, has had a glittering spell at Anfield. He’s scored an impressive 243 goals and delivered 109 assists in 393 appearances, helping Liverpool to major silverware including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
This season, Salah has been in brilliant form once again, netting 32 goals across all competitions—27 of them in the Premier League. His efforts have been central to Liverpool’s title charge, as they sit 11 points clear at the top with seven matches remaining.
Reflecting on his journey, Salah shared, “I’ve spent eight amazing years here—hopefully it will be 10. I’m enjoying life, enjoying my football, and I’ve had the best years of my career at this club.”
