The quartet of Christine Riaroh, Tabitha Ojwang, Joyce Osike, and Griffin Owino from Nyanza Golf Club arrived at the Vipingo Ridge on Tuesday afternoon for a week of activities

The winners of the inaugural KCB East Africa golf Tour got an exciting experience this week after landing an all-expenses paid trip to participate at the 2024 edition of the Magical Kenya Ladies Open Pro-Am tournament at the Par-73 PGA Baobab Course, Vipingo Ridge, Kilifi County.

The quartet of Christine Riaroh, Tabitha Ojwang, Joyce Osike, and Griffin Owino from Nyanza Golf Club arrived at the Vipingo Ridge on Tuesday afternoon for a week of activities starting with the Pro-Am tournament on Wednesday.

At the Pro-Am Christine Riaroh, Tabitha Ojwang, and Griffin Owino played alongside Pro Maria Hernandez (Spain) through the first nine holes before pairing up with England’s Liz Young, through the last nine, combining for a gross score of 14-under par.

Joyce Osike on her part had an opportunity to play alongside Alessandra Fanali (Italy) and Meghan MacLaren (England) to return a combined score of 22-under par, to place her team among the top ten finishers.

 

Speaking after her experience, Christine Riaroh thanked KCB for an amazing opportunities “I want to thank KCB Bank for putting all this together for us, it has been an amazing experience, it is our first time at Vipingo and we can’t put into words how excited we are to be here.”

“Our round was amazing, we got great tips from our Pros and enjoyed ourselves out there, we look forward to the rest of the week as we cheer on our local pros.” She added.

The KCB team will play further rounds at the Nyali and Mombasa golf clubs on Thursday and Friday respectively, before following the final rounds of the 2024 Magical Kenya Ladies Open.

At the Pro-Am tournament , Swedish professional Lisa Pettersson and England's Gabriella Cowley successfully led their team comprising Naeem Pasta, Vimar Ranpura, and Karan Khagramat to victory. The team combined for a score of 32-under to clinch the win at the event held at the picturesque par-72 PGA Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge on February 7.

In a closely contested event, Pettersson and Cowley's team narrowly edged out their closest competitors, the team of Chiara Tamburlini (Pro), Heyley Davis (Pro), Trish Boulton, Aniz Dopat, and Alnoor Dhand, who finished closely behind with a combined score of 31-under.
