Double victory for Nairobi junior league


The Nairobi junior league under 13 and under 10 soccer teams registered convincing victories against South B Cheza youthteams at the Nyayo national stadium handball court on Sunday afternoon. This is among a series of Futsal matches played at the handball court with an aim of nurturing football creativity amongst the budding soccer stars.

The under 13 match was full of excitement portraying fast pace and individual skills from players of both teams.Njl were the first to score through the ecstatic Kwameh Jordan with a powerful left foot volley . It was quite impressive to note major improvements by the just recently novice players like Bernard Ongoli of Njl who marshaled the water tight NJL defense.

In the 10th minute Kemwuel Sambula’s shot  was too powerful for the South B custodian Paving way for a second  NJL goal before halftime break.
2nd half was a more entertaining game as the South B lads came back rejuvenated for a win. Their efforts paid off when they managed to capitalize on defensive errors and draw level with 2 goals from on fire Baba within five minutes.

Their joy was however shortlived  as NJL’s response was immediate with Kwameh Jordan being at it again this time with individual efforts dribbling past 3 defenders before putting the ball way past helpless keeper.

The match ended  5-2 in favor of Nairobi junior league boys.

In the other under 10 match Arnold Chiloli of NJL emerged as an undoubted man of the match. Arnold was very impressive in the midfield combining well with Duncan and Paul giving no chance to their opponents.
The under 10 also saw Njl victorious with a 3-1 win over their counterparts South B minors.

Speaking after the match the South B youth coach who is also a member of the Cheza Africa youth group of south B commended the Njl lads suggesting a noticeable major improvement in the team.
“I cant believe how Bernard has been so consistent throughout the match, just recently he could not make a simple pass but now he can confidently Marshall the defense, there is quite some great progress here” said Coach Edu.

Nairobi Junior league is a program of Michezo afrika and runs every Sunday afternoon with a league amongst several youth teams from around the Nairobi west,Kibera,Makadara and south B areas. Plans are however a foot to incorporate all major academies in the program.
