Gor Mahia and AFC leopards will take to the pitch on Wednesday in search of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup qualifying tickets to the next round of the competitions.
Kenya’s teams have historically underperformed at the continental stage but the two giants are out to set out a new beginning.
AFC Leopards will be the first to take the pitch at 2:30pm Kenyan time against FOSA Juniors at Stade Rabemananjara. Ingwe will be hard pressed to score as a barren draw will favor the hosts who held them 1-1 in the first leg qualifier at Bukhungu Stadium.
Coach Matano is wary of the task ahead and has promised to unlock the hosts who could adopt a defensive strategy against his side.A win or high scoring draw is the only redemption for Ingwe.
At 7pm Kenyan time, it will be Gor Mahia's turn as they take on Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea at Malabo.
Gor Mahia will carry a 2-0 first leg advantage from the first leg match played at Machakos Stadium. The team will miss weekend scorer Jacques Tusiyenge who is ruled out due to injury.
Coach Dylan Kerr has promised not to park the bus.
Should they overcome Leones Vegetarianos , Gor Mahia will meet winner between ASAC Concorde of Mauritania and Tunisia’s Esperance. A win in the first round will land them in the lucrative group stages.
