The Junior Starlets will face Korea next in their second group fixture on Mashujaa Day, October 20th. Korea currently leads the group after a commanding 4-1 win over Mexico.
National Junior Starlets coach, Mildred Cheche, has praised her team's brave performance in their opening match against a strong England side, despite a 2-0 defeat at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Speaking shortly after the match, Cheche expressed pride in her team’s efforts: “It wasn’t the result we wanted, but the girls played very well. We’re going to give our best in the remaining two group matches.”
Striker Marion Serenge echoed the coach’s sentiments, acknowledging the tough battle they faced: “It was a tough match, but we tried our best. We’ll work on fixing our weaknesses ahead of the next game.”
Serenge also called on supporters to stay behind the team: “We urge our fans to keep supporting us. We’ll keep working hard in the upcoming matches.”
