Cheche confident in Junior Starlets’ chances ahead of Congo clash

The Kenya Women’s U17 National Team, has been in training in preparation for their forthcoming two-legged second-round qualifier against DR Congo.

Head Coach Mildred Cheche has expressed her confidence in the national U17 junior starlets’ chances as the team prepares to face DR Congo in the 2024 FIFA U17 World Cup Qualifiers.

The Kenya Women’s U17 National Team, has been in training in preparation for their forthcoming two-legged second-round qualifier against DR Congo.

The first leg will be played in Congo on Sunday, 4th February, before looking to get the job done in Nairobi where the second leg is scheduled for Sunday, 11th February. 

We have a formidable team capable of competing with DR Congo. The players have arrived well-prepared, having gained valuable experience from various tournaments such as Talanta Hela and Chapa Dimba, which adds to our team's readiness," Cheche who is deputised by former Harambee Starlets captain Ann Aluoch said.

Madira Girls' Valerie Nekesa, who starred for the Rising Starlets U20 Women World Cup qualifiers last year, highlights the squad.

Following the two encounters, the winner based on the aggregate score will progress to the third round of the qualifiers.

The Junior Starlets will travel to the Central African nation on 2nd February, two days before lining up against their hosts.

After the second round, the third round of qualifiers is scheduled for between May 10 and 12, with the return legs set for May 17–19, 2024.

The final round will officially take place between June 7–9 for the first legs, with the ultimate decider of the three nations representing Africa set for June 14–16.
