Chebet settles for silver as Tsegay wins 5000m gold

Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet settled for silver in the women’s 5000m final at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon on Sunday 24 July 2022.

Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay held off late challengers to win the women's 5,000 metres at the World Championships on Saturday as world record-holder Letesenbet Gidey faded down the straight to miss the podium.
Tsegay won in 14 minutes, 46.29 seconds. Chebet was a close second in 14:46.75.
