Chapa Dimba All-Stars Seal Spanish Experience with Emphatic 4-2 Triumph

The 24-member All-Stars squad—12 boys and 12 girls selected from Safaricom Chapa Dimba’s regional and national games—touched down in Spain on 6th September 2025.

It was a fitting grand finale for the visiting Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars in Spain, as the boys’ team wrapped up their tour with an emphatic 4-2 victory over Huesca Boys at the SD Huesca Academy Grounds last weekend.

The week-long camp gave the young stars a rare taste of world-class football—immersing them in professional training, state-of-the-art facilities, and cultural experiences that broadened both their skills and horizons.

On the pitch, the Kenyan boys dazzled with flair and confidence. Goals from Denzel Omollo, Armstrong Omondi, Brian Aroka, and Baraka Rodgers sealed the win, while the hosts pulled two back—first through a Joseph Maosa own goal and then via Felipe Montero. But the All-Stars’ dominance was never in doubt, and the 4-2 result stood as a memorable exclamation point to their Spanish adventure.

“First, I want to sincerely thank Safaricom for this opportunity. It has been an incredible experience here in Spain, where football is such a big part of life. We have enjoyed our time and gained so much from this one-week elite camp. I believe experiences like these are crucial for young players like us, as they broaden our mindset and change how we approach the game,” said Baraka Rodgers, one of the goal scorers.

The 24-member All-Stars squad—12 boys and 12 girls selected from Safaricom Chapa Dimba’s regional and national games—touched down in Spain on 6th September 2025.

For seven days, they trained at S.D. Huesca’s modern sports city, the Base Aragonesa de Fútbol, attended masterclasses with top coaches, played competitive friendlies, and even soaked up the electrifying atmosphere of a Segunda División clash between SD Huesca and Málaga CF. Off the pitch, sightseeing and cultural tours added to the unforgettable experience.

“We have had a great week here in Spain, giving our youngsters invaluable exposure to professional football training. They have gained tremendous skills from the academy’s top coaches and experienced what it means to train in modern, world-class facilities,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom.

GRASSROOT FOOTBALL, THE FUTURE OF KENYA

The Spanish tour crowned the successful fourth season of Safaricom Chapa Dimba, the flagship grassroots football initiative nurturing Kenya’s next generation of talent.

This season alone, more than 10 players have earned national team call-ups or professional club contracts, including Derrick Oketch (Shabana FC), Austine Odongo (Shabana FC), Brighton Anyona (Gor Mahia), Brian Aroka (Tusker Youth), Stanley Waswa (Ulinzi FC), Emily Morang’a (Kenya Police), and Swaumu Masungo (Vihiga Queens), among others.

With their Spanish adventure now behind them, the All-Stars return home with sharpened skills, priceless memories, and the belief that dreams forged on grassroots pitches in Kenya can indeed shine on the world stage.
