During their stay in Spain, the All-Stars will embark on a transformative journey packed with high-energy activities aimed at elevating their game and expanding their worldview.

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars team is set to embark on an international training camp in Spain, marking another milestone in the tournament’s mission to nurture and elevate Kenyan football talent.

The 25-player squad, drawn from the most outstanding performers of the 2023/24 season, will depart Nairobi on Saturday evening, 6th September, for Huesca, where they will undergo a week-long high-performance football training program.

In total, 32 players were selected for the All-Stars. While 25 will make the trip to Spain, several others have already achieved remarkable milestones, earning call-ups to national teams and professional clubs at home and abroad. These breakthroughs highlight the growing impact of Safaricom Chapa Dimba in identifying and propelling young Kenyan talent onto the global stage.

“Chapa Dimba has always been about opening doors of opportunity for Kenyan youth, and today we are proud to see that vision come alive in an even bigger way. Not only are these young players traveling to Spain to sharpen their skills, but many of their teammates have also earned call-ups to top national and international clubs.

To see players like Austin Odongo, Emily Moranga, and Khamis Nyale break into professional football while others take this next big step in Spain fills us with immense pride. This is the heartbeat of Safaricom Chapa Dimba: empowering our youth, transforming their lives, and showcasing Kenyan football talent to the world,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.

During their stay in Spain, the All-Stars will embark on a transformative journey packed with high-energy activities aimed at elevating their game and expanding their worldview. They’ll face off in friendly matches against Huesca’s Youth Academy, sharpen their techniques through exclusive masterclasses with professional players, and train at the state-of-the-art Base Aragonesa de Fútbol, S.D. Huesca’s cutting-edge sports city. Beyond the pitch, the players will immerse themselves in Spanish culture through guided sightseeing tours and experience the electric atmosphere of a Segunda División showdown between SD Huesca and Málaga CF.

“Visiting Spain and experiencing world-class football has always been a dream, and now it is becoming a reality. I am determined to make the most of this opportunity, learn as much as possible, and use the lessons to grow my football career,” said Swaumu Masungo, Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars player.

The team will be captained by Stanley Waswa of Ndura Sports Academy (boys) and Manda Sunira Were of Highland Royals Moi Girls (girls).

They will be accompanied by coaches Chrispine Odindo (Plateau Queens) and Evans Oketch (Obunga FC), alongside officials from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

About Safaricom Chapa Dimba

Safaricom Chapa Dimba, in partnership with the Football Kenya Federation, is a national grassroots football tournament launched in 2017 to discover, nurture, and empower young talent. Open to boys and girls aged 16–20, the tournament offers a structured platform for players to showcase their skills, gain exposure, and even earn from their passion.

Through Chapa Dimba, scouts and coaches tap into Kenya’s vast pool of emerging talent, helping to build feeder systems for local leagues while training over 250 coaches nationwide.

The tournament has produced top-tier players now shining in Kenya and beyond, including Benson Omala (Gor Mahia), David Majak (Tusker FC), Jentrix Shikangwa (Beijing Beikong), Jane Njeri, Cynthia Livondo, and Judith Osimbo, among others.

In the previous season, Safaricom invested over KES 400 million to support the tournament from grassroots to national finals, doubling the total prize money to KES 20 million. Additionally, 150 players received TVET scholarships, including the best boy and girl from each county and members of the winning teams at the national finals, courtesy of Safaricom and M-PESA Foundations.

At every regional final, two boys and two girls are scouted to form an All-Star team, earning a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train in Spain at a specialized football camp — taking Kenyan talent to the global stage.
