Chapa Dimba: Wajir All Stars silence Marina on penalties

The winners (boys’ and girls’ team) will take home KES. 250,000 and book a slot to represent the region at the national finals

Wajir All Stars (Wajir County) has advanced to the regional finals of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba North Eastern region after edging out Marina FC (Mandera County) in a 3-1 penalty shootout at the semi-final match played on Saturday at Garissa University in Garissa County. Both teams went on a barren draw during the regular time.

Coach Ahmed’s Wajir All Stars will now square it out with the host Lyon 04 FC from Garissa, who qualified after defeating Masalani FC 2-0 at the inter-county playoffs played last weekend.

“Our game against Marina FC was really tough, leading to penalty shootouts of which we managed a 3-1 victory. Though we lost several chances, we are contented with the win. Tomorrow, we play against the host, Lyon 04 FC, which is also a very tough team. However, we are ready for them and hope for the big win and get a chance to represent our region at the national finals," said Ahmed Kul, Head coach Wajir FC.
