Butali, top the standings with seven points garnered from three matches whole Police are ranked third with four points after two matches

Heavyweights Butali Warriors and the Kenya Police team will revive their rivalry when the two clash on Sunday at City Park in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s Premier League highlight match of the weekend.

The fixture is considered big owing to the rivalry between the two giants and the backing the two enjoy from the all corners of the country.

The two teams have had a decent start of life in the 2023 season as both have tasted defeat.

Butali, top the standings with seven points garnered from three matches whole Police are ranked third with four points after two matches.

Last season, Police thwarted an attempt by Butali to stretch their unbeaten run to eleven matches by shooting one past the sugarmen and head into Sunday’s clash, hoping to secure another victory.

Before the highlight match of the weekend is played, a number of matches in the top, second and nationwide leagues are set to be played on Saturday and Sunday in different venues.

On Saturday, holders Strathmore University Scorpions are set to play last season’s second runner up, Lakers who have two matches in the weekend at City Park.

Scorpions stung Lakers home and away but the Kisumu based club revenged in the Africa Cup for Club Champions after squeezing a 1-0 win over the students.

Record champions Blazers have a date with University of Nairobi at City Park on Sunday while, Lakers are expected to complete their weekend double by playing Kenyatta University students at the same venue.

Scorpions top the women’s league with seven points from four matches with Blazers ranking third with three points bagged in round one.

In the men’s Premier League, the 2016 champions Strathmore University Gladiators are expected to play returnees Sikh Union at the Dashmesh Stadium on Saturday with, Greensharks lining up City Park to play Sailors.
