Butali seeking summit reclaim as they take on USIU-A

Butali were relegated to the third place last weekend but one after former champions Kenya Police and Wazalendo gathered maximum points.

The Kenya Hockey Union Premier Leagues resume this weekend after a week-long break that paved way for the national teams players to assemble and train to assess their readiness for future international assignments.

Only clubs drawn from the second and third tiers were active last weekend as the national teams draw most of its players from the top division.

Champions Butali Warriors will look to return to the summit of the men's log when they take on USIU-A Mashujaa at City Park.

Butali were relegated to the third place last weekend but one after former champions Kenya Police and Wazalendo gathered maximum points.

Should Butali wipe the floor with the students, they will fly back to the top at least for a day pending the outcome of the match pitting Police against KCA University on Sunday.

Mashujaa, who kicked off their season slightly late have tasted defeat in the two matches played so far.

They hope to humble the league giants and start their march out of the bottom of the log.

Western Jaguars will be hoping to bag their third win of the season when hey host Wazalendo at the Eregi Teachers Training College grounds.

Jaguars who finished third last season have won two of their last outings although they are yet to know the outcome of their third game against Butali.

They host the second placed Wazalendo who have eight points against their name.

Should Butali lose to Mashujaa and Wazalendo reap maximum points in Kakamega, the latter will scale to the top.

Two women's Premier League matches are set to be played this weekend where USIU-A Spartans have a double fixture.

Spartans who are ranked fifth with four points will tackle Lakers on Saturday and later play Amira Sailors on Sunday.

Both matches will be staged at City Park.
