Butali humble Wazalendo, Nairobi Simba survive
Men hockey league defending Champions Butali on Sunday picked their second successive win on travel after a convincing 7-1 win over hosts Wazalendo who looked disjointed compared to their opening match.
This was the second loss for Wazalendo who flopped against Strathmore last weekend surrendering an early lead to lose 3-2.Butali on the other hand won their opening fixture with a 3-0 win over Green Sharks.
Barnabeus Odhiambo (15th), Seth Oburu (19th), Saidi Okwemba (35th ), Zack Aura (37th), Frank Wanangwe( 48th) Barnabeus Odhiambo( 50th) and Hannington Otieno (54th) were all on target for the visiting side while Dedaan Ipaatah scored the consolation goal for Wazalendo in the 60th minute.
Butali coach Cliff Okello in a post-match interview noted his team's improved performance compared to their opening match saying, “We clearly had better commitment. Today we had more team work compared to individual play witnessed in our opening match last weekend against Green Sharks.” He said.
“Though I know we need to improve more on our performance I am happy with the results considering Wazalendo is a good side.” He added.
In another match, Nairobi Simba survived narrowly as they escaped with a 6-5 win against hardworking Parklands.
