Bungoma Queens request postponement after player demise

In honour of the departed player, Kandanda House directed that all Women's Premier League matches scheduled for this weekend will observe a minute of silence before kick off

Bungoma Queens have requested Football Kenya Federation to consider postponing their weekend league clash against Ulinzi.

Bungoma who returned to the top flight last year put forward the request following the demise of their player Centrine Waswa.

The federation in it's condolence note published on the verified social media accounts revealed that Waswa passed on Monday after a short illness.

"Football Kenya Federation (FKF) extends its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and teammates of Centrine Waswa,"wrote the governing body.

In honour of the departed player, Kandanda House directed that all Women's Premier League matches scheduled for this weekend will observe a minute of silence before kick off as it has been the norm.

" To honor Centrine's memory, a minute of silence will be observed before all FKF WPL matches scheduled for this weekend. May her soul rest in peace," added the note.

 

At the same time, the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) has also sent its message of condolence to the family and friends of Waswa.

"We are deeply saddened following the untimely death of our member and Bungoma Queens Fc playmaker Centrine Waswa.Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the Kenyan football fraternity," wrote the body.

Bungoma are scheduled to play Ulinzi on Saturday at the Gems Cambridge Grounds. Both teams returned to the top flight last year after winning their respective third tier leagues.
