Bungoma Hopkins Holds Walk and Run for Wellness Awareness

The event featured a range of races, including a 1km paraplegic race, a 500m race for pregnant women, 5km race and a 10km race.

The much-anticipated Hopkins Hospital Walk and Run took place on, Sunday, November 10th, 2024, in Bungoma. Organized by Hopkins Cresent Hospitals, this is a community driven event dedicated to raising awareness about chronic conditions that affect millions globally, including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer and obesity.

The event featured a range of races, including a 1km paraplegic race, a 500m race for pregnant women, 5km race and a 10km race. It was attended by notable dignitaries including, Bungoma County governor Kenneth Lusaka, former governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Webuye west M.P Dan Wanyama, Kanduyi M.P John Makali, African 100m record holder, Ferdinand Omanyala among others.

 

The primary goal of the event was to encourage active lifestyles, promote early detection and reduce the stigma surrounding these conditions.
