Home player Cyprian Bundi made amends for last year’s runners-up finish at the NCBA Nanyuki Open last weekend to win his maiden Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series title at the Nanyuki Sports Club.

Bundi, who finished second last year in the same leg of the series, held his nerve throughout the three-day tournament, carding 1-under 215 to take home the Nanyuki title on home turf as he led from start to finish.

He opened the first round with 2-under par 70, then followed it with a 1-over par 73 score after round two to head into the final round atop the leaderboard. On Sunday, he played equal par 72 to finish with a three-round total of 215.

Speaking after his victory, Bundi said: “It feels incredible to finally get the win. Last year I came close and finished second, so coming back this year and being able to go all the way means a lot to me. I trusted my game throughout the three rounds, stayed patient, and focused on taking one shot at a time. I am very grateful for the support and proud to finally have the NCBA Nanyuki Open title,” Bundi said.

Seasoned amateur, Elvis Muigua settled for second place after carding rounds of 72, 74, and 71 to finish on 1-over par 217 while John Kamais settled for third with a total score of 2-over par 218 after rounds of 73, 74, and 71.

William Odek and Daniel Mwangi (+3) tied for fourth place while Diani Beach Masters winner Alex Mwangi (+4) settled for sixth.  Peter Macharia and Kamoza Chege (+5) shared the seventh position while Josphat Rono & Rafael Leming'ani (+6) finished T10 to wrap up the top 10 in Nanyuki.

Kenya Golf Union Vice Chairman Jonathan Marucha congratulated Bundi on his breakthrough victory and commended the field for an exciting weekend of golf.

“Congratulations to Cyprian Bundi on a very well-earned maiden victory. To lead from the opening round and maintain that position through to the final day speaks to the quality and consistency of his performance. We are delighted with the level of competition witnessed at Nanyuki Sports Club and grateful to all the players, officials, partners and fans who contributed to a successful championship. The NCBA Nanyuki Open continues to provide an important platform for our amateur golfers to challenge themselves and grow their game,” Marucha said.

Jay Sandhu continues to lead the 2026 KAGC standings with 1,535 points, followed by John Kamais on 1,125. Muigua is third on 989 points, with Adel Taufiq Balala fourth on 814 as Rono wraps up the top five with 695.16 points.

Elsewhere, Shay Chauhan and Samara Teneva were the standout players as the NCBA U.S. Kids Mombasa Local Fall Tour teed off at Vipingo Ridge Golf Resort on Sunday with 60 junior golfers, 22 girls and 38 boys, teeing off.

Chauhan carded 7-over par 79 in the Boys 15-18 category to finish ahead of Aryan Awe Joseph (+18) while David Kaguru (+24) finished third.

On her part, Teneva posted 9-over par 45 in the Girls 9-10 category to edge out Avian Klee (+12) and Natalie Amor (+18) who were second and third, respectively.

Action now moves to Nyali Golf & Country Club on Sunday, October 4, for the second leg of the six-legged tour.
